With there being many people who had played a important role in my journey to college, Mr. Buso was someone who constantly stood out from the rest. From sending me scholarships I should apply for based on my interests and skills, offering help and information when needed, and just being supportive throughout the whole college process shows his character as he not only did this for me, but for others around me as well. As a high school senior, I looked up to his not only as a teacher, but as a mentor. Now as a student enrolled at Baylor University, I still look up to him as I see he continues to push his students to their full potential in the very same way he pushed me towards success.

I think it's an understatement when I say that Mr. Buso was a major part in helping each one of us reaching our highest potential as students. He constantly pushes us to be better and aim as high as we can. From distinguished universities to top-tier scholarships, he was the person behind all of it. $20,000, like that's not something to scoff at and I'm extremely honored to receive such a scholarship. And grateful for Mr. Buso's guidance for these past few years.

Confident. Assertive. Empathetic. These are a few words that come to mind when describing Buso’s unique personality and drive when it came to helping his students. When I say that he is an excellent college counselor — that is an understatement. As a first-generation student, I came across many obstacles when it came to finding my new home for the next four years. Nonetheless, Buso was available a text away to clear the haze. He was the realest person during my college application. I can recall all the times where he encouraged and pushed me to apply for as many scholarship opportunities as I could. Although my first semester of senior year was demanding, it all became worthwhile once I received a $20,000 external scholarship that ultimately covered the rest of my college costs. Thanks to Buso, I was able to accept an internship at Bank of America. I will graduate college debt free thanks to Buso.

Working with Mr. Buso has been a completely different experience than working with any other teacher or adult. As a teacher, he listened, and as an adult, he made me feel understood. In addition, he let me truly express what was going through my head while not judging and provided meaningful advice. Working with him for two years allowed me to see the tremendous amount of effort he puts into everything he does, and it was touching to meet someone as invested in our futures as ourselves. I can count on him even now that I have graduated and I will never forget his support,

"Working with Mr. Buso gave me the motivation to reach my full potential.
Never has he ever belittle me or make seem less than what i am. Instead he pushed me to achieve great things such as scholarships for college. I was able to get $40,000 dollars in scholarships with his help. He never once gave up on me or my classmates. He didn't only help me but he helped a lot of students get scholarships. He would use his own time to look for scholarships for us to complete. Not only would he do that but he would push us to complete them and help us with letter of recommendations, proof reading our essays, and any documents we needed to upload. Not every teacher does that for all their students. He always went above and beyond to recognize our accomplishments. He is a person that I can trust to always be there when i reach out for help." - Roxana

Excellence. Drive. Passion.
Those would be the words I would use to describe Mr. Buso and his work ethic.
Without the pursuit of excellence, the amount of drive he has to see his students succeed and the passion he has for his job there is no chance I'd be where I am at. He believed in me during times where I didn't even believe in myself and gave me the help and motivation necessary so that I felt prepared and ready to enter my collegiate life. Had it not been for his support, and coaching there'd be no chance I would've earned a full-ride Terry Foundation Scholarship to the University of North Texas. Without his guidance and dedication to seeing my success prosper I would've remained stricken with imposter syndrome and would've psyched myself out of my interview. He taught me how to believe in myself and how to ensure people would believe in me, for which I am eternally grateful.

Coming from a family without prior experince applying to college, I faced unique challanges and uncertainty. Working with Mr. Buso gave me the necessary tools to excel in professional and scholastic settings. The interview prep sessions and words of encouragement are what gave me the confidence to reach my full potential. He is very personable and geniune with his students, making sure they have the support they need to succeed in thier academic careers. I would not be going to on of the top universities in the United States on a full-ride if it were not for Mr. Benjamin Buso.

"I have known Mr. Buso since my first freshman year when I had video game club. Although I was very shy, he always pushed me to socialize with others and make friends which helped me in the long run. He is by far the best teacher I have ever had throughout my high school journey always very energetic, a good listener and creative. He has not only helped me build my character but also has been a crucial part in my high school success. He is always down for everything; whether it be doing mock interviews, revising essays, or just listening and thanks to all of that my life has changed. He has helped me earn more than $75,000 in scholarships. Thank you Mr. Buso. You're the best teacher!"-

"There is not a person I can attribute more to my success that Mr. Buso. As a first generation student, even thinking about college was often just a thought, but today I am getting ready to go to one of the country's top colleges, and it is all that to his help. All of those times he pushed me to just complete the task at hand, whether it was college applications, scholarship forms, or FAFSA, all of which allowed me to be able to attend college with a full-ride scholarship this upcoming fall semester. Applying to college was stressful, I had Mr. Buso to help lead me through this year long journey and for this I am grateful.
