Why I do it.
For 15 years, I had an extremely rewarding career in education where I coached students and their families through the college admission process. During the pandemic, I realized something… The overwhelming majority of the students I worked with would have no problem being admitted to a college or university.
Being accepted was not the biggest obstacle they would face. The real problem my students faced was figuring out a way to pay for college without taking on bone crushing student loan debt. As time went on, my focus gradually shifted from helping my students get into college to helping them build a concrete and realistic plan to pay for college.
As the pandemic wound down and in person education began again, I started working with a small group of my “Covid Kids” -students that I had during quarantine- on their college and scholarship applications. Not wanting these students to add to the $1.7 trillion dollar student loan crisis, I challenged them to earn every scholarship out there that they were eligible for.
Those students went on to earn over $2.7 million In external merit-based scholarships and were admitted to schools -both big and small- across the country. What started as a naive and misguided attempt to help the students who helped me out so much during quarantine led to my true calling and NX College Consulting was born.
By distilling my years of experience and extensive research into a comprehensive college readiness program, teenagers who work with me can successfully showcase their unique strengths, passions, and achievements in a compelling and authentic way. Every teenager has a story to tell -in their admission essay- and my mission is to help yours discover and present yours with the clarity, confidence, and humor that will open the doors to your future.
